Wyandanch Homes & Property
Development Corp. (WHPDC) is a
not-for-profit corporation that was formed in
1985 when a group of concerned citizens
got together to address the problem of
homelessness. The Town of Babylon gave
the Board a seemingly useless house and
the Board, along with several volunteers,
renovated this house. To date, WHPDC has
built and renovated 29 houses for homeless
families. We have over 31 adults and 91
children participating in our program and
working toward becoming self-sufficient.
Mission statement: The Wyandanch Homes
and Property Development Corporation
was created in 1985 to alleviate a severe
housing shortage for the poor living in
Wyandanch and other impacted Suffolk
County communities. The core objective of
WHPDC is to rebuild both communities and
families by buying and rehabilitating
housing for the poor and by providing poor
families with support services, which
enable them to achieve self- sufficiency.
